TPR Casters

TPR casters are the largest single-material line in the Sumatic catalogue: TPR wheels in 1 to 8 inch sizes with ratings from 15kg to 350kg per wheel, on the 01 and 011 series forks in top plate and threaded stem mounting. TPR is the default wheel material for indoor use, and it is the material behind most of the industry and duty-range pages on this site.

TPR earns the default position with three properties. First, noise: the soft compound rolls silently on painted, resin, epoxy, vinyl and stone floors, which is why TPR is the standard for offices, hospitals, hotels and food production floors. Second, floor protection: TPR does not mark painted or polished surfaces and leaves no residue, so a facility can move equipment across the floor without a protection mat. Third, push-back force: TPR gives the lowest resistance of the compounds we supply, which matters for manually pushed trolleys and for equipment repositioned many times a day.

The limits of TPR are also clear, and they define when to move to another material. TPR is the least chemically resistant compound we use: aggressive solvents and strong acids degrade it over time, so chemical plants and paint lines should specify PU or nylon. It is also the softest, so it carries less per-wheel load than rubber or nylon at the same wheel size; above 350kg per wheel, step to rubber or nylon. On rough concrete with grit, rubber outlasts TPR.

Sizing follows the standard rule: maximum loaded weight divided by the number of casters, times 2.5 safety factor for swivel casters on hard floors. A 300kg loaded trolley on four casters needs a 188kg rating, which fits 5-6 inch TPR casters. A 100kg trolley or bench runs on 3-4 inch units. Because TPR is available across the full 1-8 inch range, one wheel material can carry a facility from the smallest furniture caster to the largest trolley caster.

Mounting is top plate with 2 or 4 holes or threaded stem M10-M16, in swivel and rigid, with brakes on the larger sizes. Fork finishes cover zinc, nickel and black epoxy. Because Sumatic produces the TPR wheels in-house, the compound is consistent across every order and every size in the line.

Send the floor, loaded weight and any chemical exposure through the RFQ form. If TPR fits, we will confirm it with the load table; if the environment points elsewhere, we will say so and recommend the right material instead.
