Medical Casters

This page groups the dedicated medical caster line: casters selected specifically for hospital beds, stretchers, examination couches and medical trolleys, with soft-compound TPR wheels in 3 to 8 inch sizes and load ratings from 75kg to 160kg per wheel, on the Sumatic 01 and 011 series forks.

TPR is the only wheel material in this line, deliberately. In a hospital the caster is judged by two things the patient and staff feel immediately: noise and push-back force. TPR wheels roll silently on vinyl, linoleum and sealed concrete, and their soft compound gives the low resistance that lets one nurse reposition a loaded bed without strain. Harder compounds that are common in general industry are excluded from the medical line on purpose.

Sizing follows the equipment. Hospital beds and stretchers carry 100-250kg including the patient; with the 2.5 safety factor applied, the 4-6 inch casters rated 75-160kg per wheel in this line are the standard fit. Lighter equipment, such as examination couches, bedside trolleys and wheelchair-adjacent support frames, runs on 3-3.5 inch units at the lower end of the range. Where a trolley must hold position at a threshold or on a ramp, choose the brake version available on the larger sizes.

Mounting is predominantly top plate with M6 or M8 bolts, in swivel and rigid configurations. The 01 and 011 series forks are produced for this line in the same powder-coated steel, so a bed programme can standardise one fork family across every size and swap only the wheel. Threaded stem versions appear on some legacy and export designs.
