Industrial Casters

Industrial casters are the general-purpose workhorses of the Sumatic range: the casters that trolleys, racking, workbenches and light machinery run on across factories, warehouses and service businesses. This page groups the core industrial line, 1 to 8 inch wheel sizes with ratings from 15kg to 350kg per wheel, built on the 01 and 011 series forks.

Sizing an industrial caster is a load calculation, not a guess. Divide the maximum loaded weight by the number of casters and multiply by 2.5 for swivel casters on hard floors. A 500kg loaded trolley on four casters needs a 313kg rating, which points to 6-8 inch wheels; a 200kg workbench runs on 4-5 inch casters at 100-160kg ratings. Always check the per-wheel table on the product page, because ratings fall off sharply when only two casters are swivel.

Wheel material follows the floor. TPR is the default for painted, resin and epoxy floors: quiet, low rolling resistance, no marks. PVC suits washdown and chemical areas and wipes clean. TPU adds abrasion resistance for high-cycle routes and forklift traffic zones. Rubber handles concrete with grit and the heaviest per-wheel loads at 6-8 inch sizes. If the floor is unknown, TPR is the safe first order and the wheel can be swapped later because the fork is identical.

Mounting follows the equipment. Top plate casters with 2 or 4 holes are the industrial standard and allow field replacement without re-drilling. Threaded stem casters (M10-M16) fit cast bases, tool chests and some conveyor legs. Pair two swivel and two rigid casters so the loaded equipment tracks straight, and add brakes wherever the equipment must hold position on any slope.
