Electronic industry

Electronic industry casters serve cleanrooms, ESD-sensitive assembly lines and test benches, where the caster is part of the contamination control chain as much as the floor protection chain. The range on this page covers 1 to 8 inch wheel sizes with ratings from 10kg to 185kg, built around quiet, low-shedding wheel compounds on the Sumatic 01 and 011 series forks.

The key requirements in electronics are different from general industry. Wheels must shed as little particulate as possible, roll silently on epoxy and vinyl cleanroom floors, and leave no residue. TPR is the default compound: it is dimensionally stable, low-dust, and quiet at the low push forces typical of light trolleys. PVC wheels suit the wet-clean areas of a fab, where the compound wipes clean and does not react with solvents.

Loads in electronics are lighter than in most industries. A test-bench trolley carries 20-60kg, so 2.5-4 inch casters rated 25-100kg are the core of the range. Heavier applications, such as moving a loaded fixture table or a portable measurement station at 100-185kg, move to 4-6 inch casters. Because the loads are light, wheel size can be chosen for manoeuvrability: smaller diameters turn tighter in narrow production lanes.

Mounting follows the bench design. Top plate casters with 2 or 4 holes dominate on fabricated benches and trolleys; threaded stem casters appear on cast aluminium and extrusion-based furniture. Rigid plus swivel pairing keeps a loaded table tracking straight along a line; brakes are recommended for any trolley that must hold position at a workstation.
