Double Wheels Casters

Double wheel casters put two wheels side by side on the same stem, giving a wide footprint on a narrow fork. The line on this page covers 1 to 2 inch double wheels in TPR, rated 15kg to 30kg per caster, on the Sumatic 01 and 011 series forks in top plate and threaded stem mounting.

The double wheel design solves a specific problem: where the mounting plate or the frame leg is too narrow for a single wheel of the required size, the double wheel keeps the small diameter (for tight turning) while doubling the contact width. The wider contact patch distributes the load over more floor area, which protects soft and finished floors, and the paired wheels track straighter through doorways and narrow gaps than a single narrow wheel.

The applications are light by design: nightstands, small storage boxes, furniture bases, light fixtures and compact trolleys where the frame is 1.5-2.5 inch wide. The 15-30kg ratings mean a double wheel set is for furniture and light storage, not for industrial trolleys; for anything heavier, the single-wheel lines on the other pages carry the load.

Selection is simple. Divide the loaded weight of the piece by four and apply the 2.5 safety factor for swivel casters. A 60kg piece needs a 38kg rating per caster, which is just past this line; a 40kg piece fits the 30kg-rated units comfortably. Wheel material is TPR in both sizes, the quiet floor-friendly default for indoor furniture use. Choose 1 inch for very narrow frames and tight turns; 2 inch where the frame width allows and the floor has seams or thresholds.

Mounting follows the frame: top plate with 2 holes for narrow furniture bases, threaded stem for cast or box frames. Swivel and rigid are both available; the usual fit is two swivel and two rigid so the piece tracks straight. Fork finishes cover zinc and black epoxy, and the TPR wheels are available in black and off-white.

Send the frame width, loaded weight and floor through the RFQ form. If the double wheel fits, we will confirm it with the load table; if the load points to a single wheel of larger diameter, we will recommend that instead.
